At the outset of my artistic journey, I immersed myself in the realm of realism, exploring the expressive potential of the human face, limbs, and body. Throughout my education, I honed my skills in realism, striving for meticulous detail and utmost clarity.
However, my artistic evolution took an intriguing turn as I began to appreciate the boundless possibilities inherent in exploring diverse techniques and styles. Embracing this newfound freedom, I unleashed my imagination, unbounded by any limitations or predefined conventions. This transformative experience solidified my belief in an ever-evolving and fluid approach to artistic expression, which now forms the cornerstone of my creative practice and philosophy.
Moreover, the profound impact of relocation and forced displacement has profoundly shaped both my identity as an artist and as a human being. Themes of nostalgia, loss, place, and distance have permeated my artistic career, compelling me to venture into the realm of abstraction. Through my work, I seek to convey and articulate the immense magnitude of these profound experiences and emotions.
Moving required leaving behind my studio and the accumulation of four decades worth of artistic creations. Time and again, with each move, I was forced to bid farewell to my written and painted memories.
Having spent more than five years in the Netherlands, the act of moving and the ensuing transformations have become familiar to me. Despite the ever-changing circumstances, I have persistently pursued my artistic endeavors, developing a visual language that thrives on boundless color and freedom from technical or stylistic constraints.
